A practical guide to safe behaviour in the cyber world from the NCIB
IT professionals working in the field of cyber security will tell you that the most vulnerable links in the chain of overall corporate security are very often still people - usually ordinary employees.
We have no doubt that as an organisation you train your staff at regular intervals and ensure that they follow this information and correct procedures. We have been involved in this area ourselves for a long time and know that a wealth of information may not always be acceptable to everyone, at the speed of development and with the deployment of new technologies it is quite possible for ordinary PC users to simply 'get lost' in the rush of responsibilities. Or worse - they neglect the very basics.
Because we believe that repetition is the mother of wisdom, we would like to share with you a short documentary released by National Cyber and Information Security Authoritywhich aims, among other things, to educate professionals and the general public in the prevention and protection against cyber threats.
There are undoubtedly a number of documents and detailed guidance recommendations, but we like the simple and clear "poster" from NUCIB, where employees can recall the very basic rules in a very abbreviated but concise form.
The interconnectedness of today's work and private facilities often has no fixed boundaries, and so we also appeal to employees to remember that just as they protect their private property and premises, they should treat work facilities in exactly the same way - so that they do not become a gateway for uninvited guests.
The clean desk policy is a long-standing policy enforced in all larger companies and an established standard - not to keep a clean desk, but to ensure that sensitive information such as documents or PCs are not exposed to unauthorized access. The recommendations for moving safely in the cyber world are such an analogy, or if you prefer an extension of it, that from our point of view they should be an integral part of the working approach not only in guidelines but especially in real-life operations.
Download the handy leaflet and share it with your employees. Repetition is the mother of wisdom!
